The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) will roll out the SolutionWind campaign at the European Business Summit in Brussels on 6-7 May.
SolutionWind is sponsoring the cocktail reception of the summit, as well as taking part in a number of other events and activities.
Wind power has grown up. It has grown up physically to create machines that are on the cutting edge of human engineering capability. It has grown up because it is consistently the biggest source of new power in the EU and other major markets. It is also one the fastest growing industries in the world, with annual installations increasing by an average of 25% per year over the last 18 years. And it has grown up because it is now the cheapest way to add new power around the world.
SolutionWind is an initiative that aims to harness the momentum behind the COP21 talks in Paris in November 2015 and to champion wind energy as a mature and mainstream industry.
Malgosia Bartosik, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the European Wind Energy Association, will deliver a campaign speech on SolutionWind at the summit, calling on industry and big business to back the cause.
Bartosik said: “Wind energy is now a cost-competitive form of energy around the world. In the run-up to COP21 in Paris, we are going to show that wind energy is a cheap, effective and clean source of energy.”
